After the UK government cut their security funding for Farage, they penalize him because a caring well to do friend gifted him some money. Now they're briefing him on the increased risk of harm that he faces from deranged people who are reacting to the negative press they've generated.

Farage could easily have declared the gift/bribe and thus complied with the rules. He decided to not declare it, presumably because of how dodgy it looks and now has to face the consequences, although he's now "resigned" as an MP in an attempt to avoid scrutiny. Personally, I don't think that "resignation" is really what he did if he's standing for re-election - it's a publicity stunt that has ended up making him look ridiculous.

There's also a few complaints of money laundering with the various "gifts" that he received which may be one reason that he's tried so hard to avoid any scrutiny. Also, it doesn't really enhance his "man of the people" act.

The only Reform policy document that was finished before the May elections was the cryptocurrency policy, and Farage happens to have asked the governor of the Bank of England to change policy in a way that would benefit Tether; the governor describes that as “lobbying”.

I’m sure these are coincidences.
