Ask HN: As a customer, how do you feel about AI-First Customer Support?

I've seen mixed sentiments out there. What has been your experience from the customer-side?

Well, i want my problem sorted no matter who solves it, but when human support is available, i'd want to prefer that. Built exactly something like that: meridial.dev - Lets you do zoom meetings inside your app when your users are stuck, when you are not available, agent is going to handle the stuff for you.

Worth checking out.

With all due respect to the people of South Asia, the clankers are generally far more understandable to my American ears. I don’t like it but to say otherwise would be a lie.

That said, every time I’ve called in to one of them, the conversation has gotten to the “let me get a human agent on the line” stage and I end up talking to an Indian anyway.

That's hilarious and actually a very valid point.

I feel like companies treat customer support as an afterthought. AI or outsourced, it's just a bad experience and no better than waiting on the line for a real local human.

I ask to talk to a human!
