I dont see the point, maybe i missed something. Why is this better than viewing the photos on a regular monitor, TV, or even beamer? and why only instagram?
Why this product? Nostalgia. Why only Instagram? Because it's good product alignment. Instagram also sells Nostalgia and has a huge user base.

I felt pretty moved the first time I saw that clip. I still feel moved when I watch it. For a moment, I wanted a slide projector. All of the people I know who also watch the show felt it was a master stroke. Nostalgia is a powerful selling force.
it appeals for the same reason instagram appeals - why not leave your photos as they were shot, without losing detail by adding filters?
