Was about to release a feature for free. Someone just released it for a fee

Mine is an end to end product to make and render a file. I was adding a feature for anyone to bring their own file also, which is basically the whole product of competition and they charge a fee for it.

I know the other team probably worked hard on their product and it's just a minor feature on mine. Is it a D move to release my feature now ? should I wait for a few weeks ?

I try to imagine decisions like a Wikipedia article author - who narrating the story would not give more than a sentence or two to whether you released a free alternative as a d move or as a strategy play. It would discuss the feature set, how you monetized it, and how long each of your services ultimately lasted(spoiler: longevity wins)
