What content in particular causes posts to become dead?

I noticed a lot of Show HNs end up dead immediately after post, meaning software is killing the posts. I tried to look online, but it wasn't exactly clear what in the posts specifically causes the software to kill the post, so I'm asking to see if anyone has any insight.

There are separate HN guidelines for Show HN posts: https://news.ycombinator.com/showhn.html and there is a link there to tips from the moderators.

Beyond that, I'd add that Show HN is specifically not a way to weasel around the guidelines prohibiting advertising and marketing, self-promotion, or soliciting customers. Such posts get ignored or flagged.

Some accounts are banned so everything they submit gets auto-killed. Spamming Show HNs is probably one way to get banned.
