Haven't read the Article yet and this thought feels conspiratorial but I can't imagine it ever was about "saving" ... the algorithm returns the same pattern of generated content and the same opinionated accounts no matter what likes or preferences I set when I create a new account. I tested this over and over since Elon bought the bird and it's all the same story. Of course I'm aware that the amount of data points on me is being used and I have been anything but secure and private online but the pattern showed even when I started from scratch in another area with new gear, a new OS, and never logging into any of my old services.

Right wing content mixed with left let's-yell-and-demonstrate-but-do-absolutely-nothing accounts and posts from trendy officials who advocate for escalation and are or have been involved in corrupt activities in their countries.

It's a pattern of polarization and fits the strategy sym-linked to Bannon, Harris Media, Thiel and his european right wing, corrupt pixies like Sebastian Kurz.

Twiter changed hands to create the illusion of change towards something better while polarizing and distracting. Water is still wet.

Would a man like ELon spent 50 billion on a marketing strategy that helps nudge the people towards polarization while draining their energy and will to participate in democracy? Well, the ROI will be legendary and he's not the only winner.

Elon regretted signing the deal very soon after and spent many months trash talking to try to provoke Twitter's management and board into telling him to go away. Then, on the eve of litigation, he rage quit and closed the deal. That doesn't leave a lot of room for planning. Malice? Stupidity? It's not an exclusive choice.
