that thread is horrible.

Somehow no one there sees that people die after retirement, maybe it makes sense not to retire at all?

as for me, I don't know where I am going to be one year from now, not talking about 30 years.

It makes sense to live life which that is now and then just off myself when time comes.

The most important thing that we have is youth and health, money is just a proxy for that. No amount of stuff worth it really.

So I think it is important to live life wisely, so when the death comes I would be at peace.

Now to understand what that means is hard.

PS. My yoda style writing is this way bc I am severely out of English practice, so I am sorry for that. Also, I think it is charming.

I want to be able to stably enjoy many years of working on whatever is of interest to me without needing to exchange money for it. So accumulating enough wealth for that is super reasonable. It looks like you don’t mind spending most of your time working for survival and pursuing your interests as fully as possible right now. That’s also a reasonable way to live.

These are just choices different people making different choices

The thing that's hard to predict from health is that even people unhealthy and disabled generally find life worth living. It's easy to say you'll kill yourself when "the time comes" but when you get there you will simply realize the time hasn't come yet.

You can't know until you're there of course but very very few people choose suicide when experiencing disability, despite how popular this sentiment is among the healthy.

It's much more realistic, and vulnerable, to accept that the time when you are healthy and able is only a fraction of your life. You won't die when that part is over, you will probably have many years left to be with people, and in a world, you will have come to care about. You can choose to die then but why. Disability, frailty, and decline are as much a part of life as the vigor and foolishness of youth are. You deny part of your humanity by rejecting that.

I also find it charming. Have a nice day, friend!
