Hey,
I think that the job board model is broken, we need something outstanding to help people get a job. What if companies apply to candidates? Candidates provide only video intros to let companies speed up the recruitment process. Video intros help
- weed out bad hires with our video intros,
- check candidates' soft skills even before the first call,
- hire only the keepers that suit the company the best Being comfortable behind the camera is very important in the remote work era and that is why video intros could be a great idea to present candidates. As I was speaking with companies, this is great value added to applications. - What do you think about this concept? - How to get programmers on my platform?
Most of them are probably too shy/busy to record a video. |

A video will show more than "soft skills." It reveals age, gender, ethnicity, accent. It might show things in the background that some viewers will make judgments about. Few people perform comfortably in front of a camera, so either they will look nervous and awkward or coached and fake.
I can't imagine hiring managers or recruiters taking the time to watch intro videos. They won't take more than a few seconds to read a cover letter and résumé now. I've had candidates send links to videos, or even DVDs in the old days, and I never bothered to look at those.
