What tool do you use for bookmarking?
4 points by askwhyharsh 983 days ago
Hey HN,

i am building my own bookmark manager called LinkCollect as i don't like the chrome default and also some of the popular bookmark managers are not what i need, so i am curious about what you guys use to save your favourite links and why

-> i launched v1 last month and now sitting back to look what other tools are doing and get some feedback

So would love your inputs

An old-school, locally-hosted homepage with a links section is surprisingly useful and flexible.

Most browser-based or third-party bookmarking tools ... leave me cold.

(The difficulty of accessing locally-hosted pages is another issue, especially on mobile devices, though ... options exist.)

I see, i recently built linkcollect.io , would love your inputs.
I'm not a fan of "social" tools with a "public-activity-by-default" mode.

What I read and bookmark is by default intensely private. I might want to share selected items, but that's on a case-by-case basis, and often with a specific individual or audience.

I think you have an entirely different use case in mind, and I'm not it.

I?ve tried linkace, linkding, roughly the same, I use linkding as my main "save a link to check out later"

also tried benotes, which I find better designed visually, but is a bit buggy atm

i see, thanks for mentioning them, and btw i built linkcollect.io recently, would love your inputs
