I do get a strong feeling that tools like this are just the tip of the iceberg and that programming jobs are about to get way easier. This will almost certainly push salaries down right?

I don’t know, but it certainly feels that way to me.

No, programming jobs aren't going to be getting easier, expectations are going to go way up, as is value produced per hour worked.

Whether that is reflected in wages depends on negotiating power and its effective use, it could all go into shareholder equity rather than wages.

Things are likely just going to change. At one point you could make a living writing HTML/CSS. I remember ~20 years ago right when I started getting into the field of software, that was a job title, and it paid well.

Now days I don't think that's really a thing, and very much automated away. But there are front end jobs that require expertise in crazy frameworks that pay 3x what anyone ever made doing HTML.

This is like the 60th version of these. Software work has become enormously more complicated in my career/since the aughts.
