I try not to define what intelligence is. I just think that for any definition of intelligence, you can speed it up and you can put it in parallel (let it cooperate). And I think this is worthy of note.
I have a few others, and these are interconnected.
Entropy is the distribution of potential over negative potential.
Uncertainty is the casual term for entropy. The “distributed potential” definition applies to “information theory” as well as physical phenomena. I believe it superior (encompassing) to the postulation based on thermodynamics.
Information is the removal of uncertainty. If it does not remove uncertainty, it is not information. (This would be datum, or bulldata, or factlets I suppose.)
Intelligence is the mitigation of uncertainty, if it does not mitigate uncertainty it is not intelligence.
A frequent response to this denotation regards creativity. There are intelligent and unintelligent creativities. Intelligence need not account for dumb luck.
Removal is a destructive interference with the domain of uncertainty.
Do not a anticipate to be more certain, rather look to be less uncertain and determine by integrity with Truth.
Remember, potential (whatever that is) distributes over the “negative potential”, which in conventional space is the manifold 3D surface. Inverse square law of field propagation is an example of potential distribution over spacial expansion.
Datum would be a reading of a fact.
Sensor XCV189 collects reading sample 50.3 at yyyymmddhhnnaabb
Information is that the reading is of living room ambient temperature around noon.
Information reduces a what. If it doesn’t reduce a what, it is a dormant fact or pattern as are infinite other unresolved “facts”.
Mitigation is an operative term. It means to bring resolve. A “what” is a debt of imbalance, the domain of negative potential. Mitigation is any activity which works to resolve uncertainty (potential into future, present, or past state.)
Information reduces, otherwise it is superfluous. Intelligence in some way operationally compensates. Is a self balancing hammer “intelligent?” Perhaps and intelligent design?
Intelligence would be any operative resolve of uncertainty
Intelligence and information are fundamentally interrelated. Without intelligence (even mechanical) information is meaningless. Without information, intelligence is ignorant and confused.
