What about keeping hardware I/O thin, and handling "quality, reliability, and interoperability" at driver level? Why do we keep adding more and more independent software stacks that require updates to our list of worries, and not less. |

I'm infinitely happier to have standardized USB protocols for all common peripheral types instead.
Isolating software updates to firmware is much safer, because the USB protocol can limit what the peripheral can do to my computer.
