Firmware on devices and thin, consistent USB layers is a blessing, not a curse. Who is going to port your webcam’s fancy driver to Linux or FreeBSD? Frankly, I wish as many devices as possible worked this way. Operating Systems would be so much more secure and easier to port if we didn’t have to worry so much about those darned drivers. |
