Funny. I usually appreciate the Israeli way of thinking, talking, communicating and arguing.

Not here. This is a full TDS style op-ed very light on substance and high on pure vitriol and attack. Doesn't even begin to lay out the framework of what's going on.

In case you missed it, the courts have a dual prerogative. Law, Justice and the rest. But also considering what's best for Israel.

The courts have been accused of using this clause to consider groups of Israelis best interests as in the interests of Israel.

Basically back door socialism, where group rights supercede individual rights is what I gather.

Bibi has led Israel through many tough times. He orchestrated the change from more socialist to more capitalist in the early 2000s, with great results in the complete and absolute domination of cutting edge tech including everything hacking, warfighting, intel related.

Now he is doing what he considers needs done to save the country, and the people are behind him (assuming if he is still leader) and the barrage of media against him is astonishing. Its even spilling over into the English language world.

What's the Jewish equivalent of calling someone a Nazi? Because I'm sure that's what he will be called next.

If anyone else has anymore English reading on the subject, I would be interested in some links. I find the media coverage on the issue to be vapid and pedantic. Very odd considering Israel usually has some of the best discourse and explanations available about these issues.

As for the still raging war of 1948, this chapter is just more typical Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One side kills, the other side kills. Israel wins because Palestine is a nothing state that doesn't understand they lost the war 70 years ago, and Israel has had the upper hand ever since. Palestinian kills someone, Jews kill back. Problem is it can never be proportional. Only Jewish woman can have Jewish babies. Muslim men and woman can have Muslim children.

This showdown between non-expansionist and hyper expansionist birthing means Israel will never play 1 for 1. Otherwise, it just takes 20 million dead Muslims for 20 million dead Jews and the game is over.

Israeli doesn't equal Jewish (where the mother rule matters). Many Jewish people oppose the establishment of Israel, meanwhile many Israelis consider themselves Jewish by race and don't follow Judaism or even believe in the existence of God.

France won so many wars and battles against Algerians since 1832. People like you would have said "give up, you've lost", but they continued to resist and won their freedom in 1962.

You left out that the friends killed a man in revenge. It's a problem that settlers carry out 'price tag' attacks as revenge for either Palestinian violence in occupied land, or for Israel's attempts to limit settlement expansion.

"Haaretz" is the radical leftist newspaper, and recently they fired a pro-reform writer/journalist.

The protests have nothing to do with judicial reform, but with the fact that the side that lost the elections refuses to admit its defeat. They are using this reform as a pretext for continuing the riots against Netanyahu, as their previous slogan "Just not Bibi" has lost steam, and didn't helped them to win the elections.

The protesters insist that the Knesset (the Israeli parliament) stop the legislation, and transfer reform to the backroom deals brokered by the President (a symbolic role) and the opposition. But the right never had that privilege. Moreover, a large part of the opposition in the past supported even stronger judicial reforms, but now they are taking advantage of this situation to score political points.

The self-appointed judges all came from the same background, and do not represent or even care about average Israelis. The Supreme Court of the United States has judges with diverse backgrounds, compared to that Israeli Supreme Court as diverse as the Ku Klux Klan.

You are right that the so-called "Supreme Court of Justice" (High Court) is "backdoor socialism".

From 1995, Israel officially became "judocracy" - a regime where only judges rule. The judicial authority holds all the power and makes all the decisions, and not an executive or legislative authority.

Additionally these judges disregard the Knesset's laws, and basically making their own laws.

The High Court is the way for the Israeli left to continue to rule, even when they can no longer win elections due to the long-term cultural and demographic trends in Israeli society.

Netanyahu brought Israel from socialism to capitalism in the early 2000s, and now he will convert Israel from a Judocracy to a true democracy. I don't like him, didn't voted for him, but he is the lesser evil, and the evil we already know.

Blah blah blah. The court is backdoor socialism. Self-appointed judges that "hold all the power" and "make their own laws". Netanyahu is creating a "true democracy". Lazy slogans.

Sorry you don't like the idea of a constitutional check on power and only see left vs. right. Most Israelis however like living under a constitution. How, without independent courts, would you expect to jail a corrupt president? Or confirm fair elections?

Do you think the protesters might not have a problem with a PM in the middle of a criminal trial is tampering with the justice system? And be clear, he IS behind this. They're protesting for democracy too.
