| Funny. I usually appreciate the Israeli way of thinking, talking, communicating and arguing. Not here. This is a full TDS style op-ed very light on substance and high on pure vitriol and attack. Doesn't even begin to lay out the framework of what's going on. In case you missed it, the courts have a dual prerogative. Law, Justice and the rest. But also considering what's best for Israel. The courts have been accused of using this clause to consider groups of Israelis best interests as in the interests of Israel. Basically back door socialism, where group rights supercede individual rights is what I gather. Bibi has led Israel through many tough times. He orchestrated the change from more socialist to more capitalist in the early 2000s, with great results in the complete and absolute domination of cutting edge tech including everything hacking, warfighting, intel related. Now he is doing what he considers needs done to save the country, and the people are behind him (assuming if he is still leader) and the barrage of media against him is astonishing. Its even spilling over into the English language world. What's the Jewish equivalent of calling someone a Nazi? Because I'm sure that's what he will be called next. If anyone else has anymore English reading on the subject, I would be interested in some links. I find the media coverage on the issue to be vapid and pedantic. Very odd considering Israel usually has some of the best discourse and explanations available about these issues. |
