I'd like to learn a little Italian, I should keep trying to pickup bits of French too. If anyone knows any technology based news sites in Italian it would be really helpful

I haven't personally used LingQ, but it seems to be the best way to pick up new languages. It provides a feed of news in other languages with a neat vocab tracker! I haven't learned a language with it yet, but I'm very interested. There's also an excellent interview with LingQ's creator.

I've used it personally and it's fantastic. If you're like me, the most productive language study is just reading and looking up the individual words you don't know. LingQ facilitates that beautifully.
As an Italian I sometimes read about tech news on this website section: https://www.ilpost.it/tecnologia/

But AFAIK there isn't an Italian equivalent of HN, if that is what you are looking for.

I used the free podcasts from Coffee Break Italian. They're very good. https://coffeebreaklanguages.com
Nothing compared to HN. hwupgrade.it forum was a good community as far as i remember hdblog is a not-totally-sponsored tech news/reviews site
A fun way to learn new languages is a chrome extension for having dual subtitles on Netflix movies. I find it’s a good way to pick up slang and idioms of the target language.
A non-tech method perhaps. Find Italian friends, community or even better a partner to practice with
