Ahoy! I'm on a voyage right now to build a financial tracking tool that's better than all the others that exist. I am trying to create something that allows you to connect all of your financial accounts but then create your own calculators and reporting widgets for the things that matter most to you using the live data. Basically a no-code widget builder for financial tracking so you can customize your experience.

I built my initial mvp with some pre-built widgets to highlight some cool possible tracking use-cases and also added some integrations with Notion and Google Sheets.

For example, if you want to see a live emergency fund recommendation based on your average monthly expenses or what your financial freedom numbers would be simply by linking a bank account you can get all types of information like that.

I am looking for some feedback on what people find the MOST annoying about tracking their finances and what they think other tools are getting wrong. If you have any suggestions or insights leave a comment or let me know:)

I think this is very cool. I haven't used financial trackers lately. But I do remember one frustration I had with Mint.com was the inability to edit the categories of certain transactions in a wholesale manner and then adding rules for future instances. This was like 5-6 years ago; it could be fixed right now.

Thank you so much!! I had similar frustrations with Mint. I feel like they got complacent and haven't updated much over the years, can't blame em though after a big success haha.

Amazing feedback though I've heard this many times. I'm trying to tackle the infrastructure / compute layer first, get an intuitive UI for playing with the data, and then build out the customizations on the individual user level for modifying transactions and such. So that piece will likely come last but I have a pretty detailed spec drawn out on how I think I can handle that with transactions rules, categorization schemas, and plaids api. (I've watched how lots of people tried to tackle this problem haha)
