So many long-forgotten companies advertising! So many modems! I know someone who was a grad student at that time, and how excited he was to get a 2400 baud modem and his own VT-100 for work on the VAX. That grad student was me, though today it seems almost impossible to remember what it was like back then. I do remember ruining a colleague's line-by-line source printout by sending a console message that read, "Andropov just died." |
