Wow, every time I am even remotely tempted to upgrade from my T420 (from 2011!) Lenovo manages to completely fumble something. ARM Thinkpad X13s? Crickets on Linux support front, not holding my breath on getting something usable anytime soon.

No physical trackpoint buttons hadn't even occurred to me until I saw the photos...

I don't mind the lack of physical buttons since the haptics seem to be okay on this trackpad[0], but another downside is the 2242-sized SSD on the Z13 model. It's a Gen 4 PCIe, but delivers Gen 3 speeds, as noted by some early reviewers[1]. Seems like 2242 SSDs lack local DRAM, which affects speed according to posts on the Lenovo Community forum. But the fact of the matter is that the XPS 13 Plus is achieving double the speed with regular 2280 SSDs.

Worth noting that the Z13 all black version and the version with integrated LTE are not available in the US.

Well, they did it on the T440. I don’t think it will last more than a single generation this time, either.

There’s usually a good one every few years.

The big problem with the T440 non-buttons was not even the tactile feel — I might have been able to get used to that, humans can adapt to pretty awful things — but that you couldn’t turn the touchpad off without losing your ability to click things. I guess it’s the same this time.
