War deaths are typically young men in the prime of life. Covid deaths are mostly old people. Not to say they should be ignored, buy what people must have experienced seeing a generation of young men die in WWII is nothing like what is happening now.

The situations are far from identical, of course.

But I don't think the age-based "grief differential" means quite what you think it means to the families and loved ones of those who have been lost.
