I get his frustration, but why would I want to work with someone who openly admit that he's a dick and proud of it? Linus is an example, as great as he is, why would I work with/for him unless I'm desperately need him?
Because you can exploit them to write great things without really giving them a platform for being a dick.

I agree. If I'm honest his writing style makes him seem like he has a somewhat abrasive personality and I do wonder if that might be a factor as well.
I don't recall him saying he's proud that he's a dick. I read that quote as that he's introspective enough to recognize it.
Everyone else is a dick and just can't accept it.
