Haven't seen this mentioned: I wake up to a double digit GB Finder process every other day. I leave it plugged in during the night. Wear is 3% or 48TB of writes.

What finder extensions you have enabled? Disable them all, see if behaviour stays.

I don't have any as far as I can tell, but some 3rd party tool that interacts with Finder in some way could be the culprit..
