I think that this should not be the solution. Rather, the solution should be to promote protocols which are simple, open, and decentralized (or decentralizable).

The problem is not that Twitter has terms of service, but rather, that they try to force everyone to use Twitter.

It is kind of funny that conservatives have been working to privatize every aspect of the 'public square' for decades, so that this very thing could happen--'public' spaces would be subject to corporate control, and therefore rights normally protected by the government could be constrained. This has been the project for decades now. Lax enforcement of antitriust regulations, siphoning public funds to private institutions, selling off public resources, etc, etc. Now they are crying when the result of their own ideology is biting them in the ass.
Isn't he the same guy that targeted the woman in Florida's Department of Health to shut her up about COVD data?

Hippocracy

Can Twitter et al deplatform an entire state?
In my small town diner there was a prominent sign:

"We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone".

My mother, who had traveled 1000 miles to campaign for black voter registration (this was the '60s), always bristled when she saw the sign, but kept her peace in public. It was the only diner in town.

One mind-boggling trend in my lifetime has been the embrace of liberals -- formerly so fiercely protective of free speech and equal rights -- for censorship and silencing of unapproved narratives by giant corporations and the agencies of state.
