How come a medium.com link is redirecting me to some unaffiliated website?

It is not an unaffiliated website but a medium publication. I accidentally posted the link here before the article was accepted by the publication.

But I thought Medium was a self-contained site... Why is it redirecting to another site? I don't understand.
