Alt-Enter, or more specifically Option-Enter doesn't work on macOS. It does the same thing as Enter, as pointed out above.

How about a ctrl-g shortcut to cd and exit to the directory on the file/dir highlighted?

No need to. The Option key is configurable in terminal software.
