Lots of people prefer eating smaller servings more frequently, some people need a snack to get through the day. Yet others have varying schedules that cause may fall between meals in a way that makes them hungry.
Knew a weight lifter that was doing 5 to 8 small meals per day. She was pretty darn fit. I wonder if anyone has done an actual study on the subject?
Here's a meta-study that claims possible positive effects for small, frequent meals: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26024494

On the side bar there's a bunch more.

Yes, but three times in 8 hours? I think it's more of an unhealthy habit to constantly eat. That's how you get diabetes.
Regular small meals have been frequently recommended for a variety of diet reasons and is in no way tied to diabetes or other health issues, and is often times better then a glut of food in a single meal. In addition, people prone to hypoglycemia can benefit from gentle gnoshing through the day.

It is normal for people to eat lunch halfway through the work day.
I want my doctor to be well satiated.
Do you not eat at all during work?
If I'm as busy as OP (claims to be), then no way.

EDIT: Think about marathon runners: they drink water and electrolytes. I'm pretty sure I can handle a workday fully concentrated without eating every three hours.

Well, you're better able to digest when you're not constantly running, and you're less reliant on concentration for a marathon.
When I ran an ultramarathon (31 miles) I ate a lot of Oreos during the race. They have snack tables along the route.

Can you handle a marathon on water and elecrolytes each day, every day, for most of your career?
Lunch?????????
