When I feel down, I like to read [Winston Rowntree's autobio](http://www.viruscomix.com/makingofpartseven.html). He makes the subnormality webcomic. His story is the same as others have said, 'it gets better', but shows that it was crushing on _every_ _step_ and only his insane persistence got him to the success ten years in the making.
