What if there's some weird loophole among the Five Eyes participants that ignores payphones in favor of other landlines and cells?

I'd assume it's all slurped up. The difference is that there is zero idenification of the caller when using a payphone.
Which is a great reason to know your closest payphones. Just in case.
No. You drive for a random amount of time, well away from your local area so to establish zero connection. If you're using the payphone outside of your house, you may as well call from home.
Don't let your number plate be scanned by cops as you're driving to said payphone, or you could be linked. Better to ride your bike.
Or, you can use one close to your house but ensure every other signal is scrambled (such as, have someone take your phone to the next town over and use it while you do the payphone thing)
While standing on one foot and facing North, of course.
