Do you work in the UK ? The term "coder" is pretty common in the mainstream press.

It helps to make it clear that a developer isn't as important as a business person or journalist.

Yes keep the oily engineers outside other wise they might start wanting the same status as us :-(
Why? I have a lot of experience in the UK and that is how I would see it
