When I was a child I learned BASIC and LOGO when I was 5-7 years old. I found the skills I acquired in the process helped me with math and english, to the point where I was doing both at a college level by the time I was in 6th grade. I'm working on a project to "upgrade" classic BASIC versions and make them more interesting to today's children. We have a proof of concept at http://discorunner.com and there's also an introduction to BASIC tutorial on that site targeted toward primary school-age children. |
