Maybe a lack of resources out there or Google thinks if you learn a more generic language you will mold easier

Maybe they're a large company and Go is a system's language used by a subset of the company. And maybe it's not important to learn for general technical development with no specific problem to solve.
Go is only recently popular, so very few past successful candidates had Go experience, so recruiters wouldn't notice it.
