Got a degree in Physics when I was doing grad trips but had a conversation in the basement of a STEM dept in the northeast where I discovered that for people of my race they would have exactly one grad student and they would graduate them with a masters 7 years later(One of the kids from my school went and he has two masters they were ranked #1 at the time and I believe still are). At that point I decided grad school was too much of a risk. I worked in phones for 3 years, mostly technical support and I loved it it was easy for me. So I went back and did a degree in Computer Engineering which I loved and presented some really fun challenges and now I'm looking for something with smarter coworkers than my current government affiliated work.
