Probably not the fade itself but the copy-to-clipboard functionality.

Unfortunately, Flash is (for now [1]) the only way to support click-to-copy in every major browser.

I have click-to-play enabled, so I'm used to seeing small grey rectangles pop up when I hover over things. I think even GitHub does that.
