+1. A "manager" can't replace a "team". And having a "team" is one of the key aspects of being agile(this is what "peope and interactions" is about).

I've used word "replace" in another comment about pair-programming. It feels now that it's a trend in "cargo-cult-agile" to somehow inverse agile manifesto principles. E.g. replace understanding of how team should work with a formal sertified scrum process - "you do iterations, standups and stuff - you fine!" Burn-down carts and sheer numbers of closed tasks disguise real state of the software being developed(just create more tasks and then split them to create volume).
