I originally wasn't going to say anything... but I will say that it did strike me as an odd thing to do.

It isn't very important I suppose, but the switching did interrupt my train of thought.

It is a shame we can't use "it" or another pronoun to avoid the issue entirely. They/their sometimes works but feels wrong when talking about a person in singular.
