Eh, take a look at the smartphone market outside the Anglosphere. Most likely the OS will be developed by Google in America, the CPU by ARM in the UK, those chips will be customised and fabbed by Samsung in Korea, the screens created by LG/Sharp/Samsung again in Asia, the radio chips designed by Qualcomm (USA) but speaking GSM or an upgrade of it (European-developed) in factories using precision specialised devices created in Germany or Switzerland and then shipped around the world on ships owned by Maersk (in Denmark), piloted by seamen from India and the Phillipines. The USA has done a great job of developing the world's dominant operating systems and cloud software stacks, which gets a lot of attention here at HN. But there's a heck of a lot more to tech than that. |
