Most people just don't care or gave up caring. It's too cumbersome to seriously protect privacy. If friends use Whatsapp and they have my address in their phone's address book, Facebook knows it. Same with photos. And as long as NSA has access to all Google and Facebook data, it's efficient for them. Two interesting projects to mitigate this:
