2013/2014 was an exception. WCC has been held every other year for the last few years, and it will return to that now. Honestly I'm not quite sure why they decided to arrange the 2013 WCC in the first place. Every other year makes a lot of sense for different reasons, though. It allows the champion to be more active outside of the championship (not just prepare for the next one all the time), it allows for a proper candidates cycle, it makes it easier to find venues/sponsors, etc. |
