Let's say PulseAudio is really good now (I can't disagree). It was initially released 10 years ago. So 6-7 years after initial release ("3-4 years ago") it was causing people grief. I'm not sure that's a great vote of confidence for the road ahead of systemd (given that systemd presumably has a bit more to it than PulseAudio). To quote the article, "I do honestly believe this will end up being the start of a rocky period for Linux". Ubuntu 14.04 will keep me happy for ~5 years, then I can take another look at what the current state of things are. |
