When preparing for the YC app, I noticed that the product we're working on may fall in the realm of Education in the RFS list. Although working on a good field by no means guarantees to be admitted, I'd like to throw a discussion on how people are disrupting education nowadays, especially ideas other than distributing online courses. Share some wisdom! We are working on Aktively. It's an online marketplace that allows DIY hobbyists and beginners to quickly pick up skills and techniques by connecting them with expert makers in-person, offline. Hobbyists will be able to save a lot of early investment in tools and classes, while experts provide them with in-person supports at every step. In the meantime, experts are monetizing their skills, studios in slow hours and extra supplies. This is like helping people initiate the first step to get involved in the larger maker movement. |
