I agree. Authors write all kinds of fiction; some of it sells better than others, then authors look at what sells. It's a market with feedback. The interesting question is not "what should authors write?" but "why does dystopia sell so well nowadays?" Or as Chuck Palahniuk put it: "When did the future switch from being a promise to being a threat?" |
