I just hope that however google and yahoo implement PGP into their mail offerings, they do it in a way that cannot be intercepted by governments/bad guys.

exactly, which is why they'd need to build it in a way that cannot be backdoored.

However, if the government comes to Yahoo/Google, and says: give us a backdoor.. how can we be sure it doesn't happen?
