My brother once described the difference to me as "Use Lyft if you want to talk to the driver, Uber if you don't". It's not just the clientele that are different, but the drivers act differently too. In my experience, Lyft drivers are more prone to trying to strike up a conversation, whereas Uber drivers rarely try and initiate.
