Though I agree with you that OP appears to have seized on the wrong meaning here, there are some folks here that do do security research. Isn't Matasano pretty vocal on HN?

Yes I know HN isn't literally for hackers its just that I was hoping maybe some security people are on HN...
If not on HN then I have no idea where to find someone except maybe g+
