Nope. In fact most of it makes it worse and adds friction. More cogs turning in different directions.

What if someone needs one of the newer packages provided by RHEL7?

What if I don't?

Most of our stuff is on JVMs apart from SVN/DAV/apache/LDAP and that's a 40 min job to get packages ready for from srpms from scratch. We just have our own repo and import stuff that isn't in the distro repo ourselves.

FreeBSD looking like a good option in the future.

They can use the software collections to install it.
