Ask HN: Why Google Translate Does Not Enable Browser's Spell-Checker
1 points by juijasmem 4369 days ago
As a foreign speaker I use Google Translate everyday, I usually type very fast and write with errors. Is very time consuming "hack" the browser every time I need to spell check my text. I knonwn in some situations Google Translate adds a "did you mean" text, but sometimes does not help and is innacurrated, specially with big portions of text, such mails or forum posts that need some proof reading. Is there any special reason for this? Or is just some ignorance from the developers?

With the "did you mean" feature, you may be able to correct all words, but you know.. humans do it better and "computer corrections" are also incorrect. With the ability to enable the spellchecker, you will be able to highlitgth and correct one by one

Is this behaviour on purpose to collect human knowledge?

Sorry for the typos :)
