Specialization may be key. Detroit certainly has a long history of it. Before motor manafacturing, the area was one of the largest hubs in the fur trade. But I still think, eventually, that the Detroit renaissance will be brought on by a broader set of influences (a combination of artists, startups, and tech manufacturing moving in and redefining the city). |
