In the 1800s, most chess was much more aggressive, and it was frowned upon to reject an offered exchange of pieces. Consequently, games were faster, moves were riskier, and everything was arguably more interesting. In other words, modern humans have been playing in dull, more reliable ways for over a century, so even if not sore loserish, it's at least a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. |
