Eh, no worse than the Russian Mi-24 which had a heavily armored cockpit, but the tail could be easily damaged by small arms.

People will find a way, intentionally or not, around your defensive design. True for code and military engineering alike.

At least they learned from the heavily armored helicopter whose gigantic windshield was made of non-bulletproof glass.
I was trying to find a reference for that! Any pointers?
I believe he was referring to Rambo III. :)
There was a reference to the Russian helicopters windshields not being bulletproof in Afghanistan in a sci-fi or geek-y book I read a few years ago. I haven't seen Rambo III, so I know it's not that:) Possibly a Neal Stephenson book? Not sure. Also couldn't find any facts about it online.
