What a great advice - if you are feeling financially insecure, and feel like you have no support network - just get a job at $240K +. Why doesn't everyone just do that?
I'm not sure about exact numbers, but when you are 30 something and ask for a lot of money people are thinking you are worth it and the only question for them is whether can they afford you or not. And suprisingly some answer "yes" to that question.
