Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia identified this a long time ago. His ideal would be that their products are manufactured for the local market (or manufactured locally). However since they also strive to create a sustainable supply chain, and this requires control, it is not currently possible. I wonder if 'letting go' of the supply chain - regardless of the repercussions - would allow these methods to evolve... |
